Today we started the morning off early. We were at Chuk Muk school by 8 o clock for the first art class. Theo had 6 Carrera students that were interested in learning more about painting. These students study in the afternoon and therefore could attend this class. Some of the students participated in last years art classes with Cathy.

Theo had brought down numerous pictures of Guatemalan birds, butterflies and flowers for the students to use as subjects in the paintings. This year we are using acrylic paints instead of oils as they dry way faster. We are using a unusual medium as the students will be painting on cork paper. Theo also taught a one art class to the grade 9 students in the afternoon.

Eileen and Jaime put their heads together and worked on designing English classes for the middle school students. We are having middle school start one hour early so the students are having classes in art, English, nutrition and learning to play cribbage ( they made crib boards last year in wood working.

It was really awesome reconnecting with all the teachers and students. The school gardens are doing amazing AND they made 2 new gardens for the kindergarten students. All the classes are wanting watering cans…I will be using the donations to purchase the watering cans.
