Today the group walked into Santiago Atitlan.

We visited the stationary store and put in our huge order for Basico supplies. Everyday the number of students wanting to go to the school increases we will probably need to update it tomorrow.

We also visited Pueblo a Pueblo and had a meeting with their garden coordinator as well as their garden guy. We drastically need to improve the quality of the soil in our Chukumuk gardens. They told us where the worm farms are in an Lucas Toliman as well as where they buy manure.

The buying of the manure is not as easy as it sounds. You have to find an area with cows…then find the owner, barter over the price, then put it in 100 pound bags and hire a truck to take it all to Chukumuk!!!!

Catherine and Marilyn helped Cathy in the afternoon with her art class. The students started to paint in the background of their paintings. Marilyn was interviewing the students for the write-ups that will accompany the paintings.

Jaime and I went around Chukumuk visiting the Aldea Maya gardens and discussed composting with the families.

Later in the afternoon was the meeting with the students and moms for second year Basico. All the families are really appreciative of the help.
