A close encounter with some dogs on Saturday, followed by a few stiches, delayed our schedule.

Frank’s House

On Monday Louise, Kelly Hilder, Cam Sosa, and the Maya Families group visited the village of San Jorge de la Laguna to make Frank [#854] and his family the proud owners of a brand new house. The construction of this house was made possible by the proceeds from this year’s silent auction.

Cindy Lorena’s House

Last February we realized that Cindy Lorena’s house required immediate work to save it . The back wall of the house is at the foot of a hill. Over the years mud has washed down and accumulated against the back wall of the house. Moisture has penetrated the cinder block walls, and water being forced under the house is washing away the front porch. Aldea Maya has provided the funds required to remove the mud from behind the wall, and provide a means for the water to be diverted from the house. The front of the house has also had work done to rebuild the front porch. An onil stove has been deliverd and work is underway in building a kitchen. Cam Sosa is one of the worker bees involved with this project.
