We just received a $7,000 US grant from Rotary International to start a women’s sewing cooperative in Chuk Muk. We will be partnering with Consorcio and Conscious Clothing to turn this grant into a reality. Not only will this bring necessary income to the Mayans sewing the product but we will be using fabric that has been natural dyed and hand woven by the members of Consorcio. The ripple effect from this grant could be huge.
