We are starting to get the  school kitchen ready to produce safe, nutritious meals for the close to 500 students attending the Chuk Muk Elementary school and preschool. One of the first steps is to get clean water. To do this we needed to purchase 6 water filters.

We would like to thank several people for making it possible for Aldea Maya to purchase these filters. Tom Sullivan at Charity Painting in Connecticut painted Johnny and Viviana’s home.

Tom donated part of his painting time and Johnny and Viviana Rodriguez donated part of their home painting costs, between them they bought these much needed water filters. We were also able to buy some watering cans for the students to use in the school garden. Thank you!!!

One of our students has been quite ill. We took him to the hospital and he was treated for parasites. The family had a water filter but the inner filter was old and not functioning. We were able to get Cruz a new replacement filter. Hopefully this will reduce his, and his families chances of catching parasites.
