One student Francisca informed me she has a job operating a manual ice machine. OOOOH I was so sad. She is very smart and driven young lady. Fortunately Guatemala operates a Saturday or Sunday high school for students 18 years old or older. Francisca is 17. After talking to her mom we have the great plan of Francisca studying on Sundays next year when she is 18. OMG Francisca was overjoyed at the prospect of continuing to study.
We then continued on to Maria Luisa’s home. Maria Luisa is another graduate of Basico that is not allowed to go on and study this year but will be 18 next year. Vicki and I were here to continue the sewing classes. We were pleasantly surprise to find Maria Luisa happily sewing on the machine altering and repairing the families clothing. She just loves to sew. Now Maria Luisa had planned on studying to be a secretary next year BUT it looks like we will be looking for advanced sewing and tailoring classes for ML and setting this family up in a business.

The last student not continuing his studies was Cristobal. I visited Cristobal and found out he was also 18. He definitely wants to study on Sundays in San Lucas Toliman. In the afternoon we took the fully sponsored elementary students in the pick up to Santiago to get gym and normal shoes..
