It was Kathy’s last day teaching art, and unfortunately, Marilyn was to sick to translate. So, Louise used her Spanish skills and translated for Kathy and the kids in the morning. The artwork turned out beautifully. They were all vibrant and very detailed. All the boys hugged Kathy goodbye twice, and seemed genuinely happy about having the opportunity to meet her and have the class.

While Art class was in session Jaime began tutoring some of the girls that wanted help in Math. Tutoring does not officially begin until Wednesday, but they could not wait for his assistance!

Pedro, Carlos and I planted the seeds in the family’s garden. A lass the garden is ready to grow tomatoes, beats, radish, beans, lettuce and more! We also worked on building the terrace wall for the school garden.

Back at school Jaime, Louise, and I went to Third Basico’s English class and helped them write bookmarks responding to kids in Canada, whom had written them bookmarks in Spanish. Each bookmark had information about themselves in English, and in the back, had words in T’zutujil. It was a fun and successful project.

We also saw Pedro water the front and back of the school. Pedro makes sure to keep the school’s greenery beautiful!

Later on Jaime and I went to Second Basico English and played English Picture Bingo with the kids. The students seemed to enjoy it and also learn a few new English words.

After school Louise and I had a goodbye dinner with Kathy and Marilyn. Kathy cooked for us, it was not gourmet, but it was edible. A nice way to end the night.
