Today we once again headed over to Chukumuk in a pickup. Miguel, Charlie and a Mayan Families volunteer were going over to construct a half door on the preschool.

We were loaded up with 14 gravity feed water filters. These filters will give a family 2 years of safe drinking water. We were able to buy them because of our Christmas card sales. We handed them out to students in our Basico. This was a bit of a disaster due to the Mayan Families worker who was suppose to help not arriving in time – but this is the third world and if you can not handle a change in plans then you are in trouble.

So the driver of the truck showed us how to put them together. Laura, the MF student sponsor coordinator knew items like not to use the first filtered water. The MF preschool cook new how to clean them. I explained how expensive they are [$62 US each] and to take extra care with the ceramic filters. Therefore we got them explained perfectly in the end.

We also took pictures of another one of the grade 6 classes as they will be next years Basico students. We sure hope we can get lots of mini sponsorship to help these students.

The grade 5 students who did not give the 2 key chains for the chickens had to do some work for their chickens. These students cleaned the preschool toys in a mild bleach solution and dried them. They actually loved doing this as they got to play with the toys as they cleaned them.
