Today started of with a visit from Josue and his mom. Josue is 4 years old and due to extreme poverty he has been fed very little food since his single mom stopped breast feeding. We have been supplying chaya and an egg a day since we met him in September and he is looking much better. He will be starting preschool which is excellent news as he should start getting a daily school food.
He was excited to receive new clothing and it is one of the first times we have seen him smile. He will now have something decent to wear to preschool. Two weeks ago I gave the mom postpartum vitamins ( their is a baby in the family) and I could not believe how much better she looked.
Her skin was glowing and the bags were missing from under her 22 year old eyes. She also told me she has way more energy. I was able to give Josue some children’s multi vitamins. We want to thank Qualicum Pharmasave for their generous donation of vitamins.
Today was the day we handed out supplies to our 50 plus sponsor students. We had some student helpers to make the process run smoothly.

Here is Rosa Ernestina getting her supplies. We have been helping Rosa since grade 1. She is an orphan that lives with her grandma. She is very excited to be starting middle school.
Every student must give 10 hours volunteering and some beadwork for being sponsored.
Here is Natalia and her mom with their beadwork. This bracelet was super cool so we ordered some more which will help the family too. The service is a thank you and the beadwork makes it that the students are ” paying” for receiving supplies, fees, uniform, gym uniform and shoes. The students that are studying education had already started school on Monday.
