Today we started our Rotary funded sewing project with Conscious Consorcio Clothing.

We had our first committee meeting where we met with the 2 clothing/bag designers Sylvia and Melanie.

Here they are in front of a table of clothing articles that  will be being made in the near future. We also had the pleasure of meeting the new sewing teacher Basualdo.

Basualdo will be teaching 8 women and one man to use industrial sergers and sewing machines. Not only will the participants  earn much needed money, they will have the feeling of accomplishment at mastering a valuable skill.

We visited the 2 graduating grade 6 classes. These students will be our first year Basico students next year. We took pictures of all the students for our 2016 Christmas card sales.

The majority of these students would not continue past grade 6 without our program. By purchasing a $50 card you can buy the supplies for one year of school. We really need to keep the girls in school as their other alternative is an early marriage. To fund many of our programs we sell beadwork and weaving.
