The next few weeks are going to be very exciting as the students celebrate their graduation from Middle School and High School.

This will be the 4th group of students to graduate middle school in Chuk Muk. We have only 11 graduates this year.

We started 3 years ago with 25 students in grade 7 and for various reason it dwindled to 11.

In a poor village like Chuk Muk education is not always a priority. Students quit because the school is too hard, or there is no food at home and they have to work or there was an illness in the family or their family does not think it is important. For example this year we had 100 students in grade 1, by grade 6 the numbers had dropped to 39 students. And by grade 9 only 11 students. Though I am happy to say we still have 24 in grade 8. Can you imagine what the numbers would be like if we were NOT supplying supplies, fees and free internet with photocopying. The school secretary says that 80% of the students in middle school would not be attending without our support.
