This week the students in grade 3 received a papaya plant

and a bag of organic compost.

Over the last 2 months they have been learning all about vitamins A and C. They have made posters and had cooking classes. The students then receive a papaya plant.

The plants for the three grade 3 classes were paid for by Jodi Waters class at Arrowview Elementary. They sold Guatemalan beadwork to raise the money.

We are continuing to teach weekly courses to the moms on nutrition and using chaya. The indigenous Mayans in this area eat very poorly and use few vegetables. These classes can be a great eye opener on the problems in their diet. The women really like the camaraderie of the cooking classes and learning new information.

Josue’s family  garden is starting to feed the family.

Our office garden is starting to produce as well.
