We had classes on Folic Acid with the students in grade 6. The students learned why it is important to eat foods containing Folic Acid.

We then showed all the foods available in the market that have Folic Acid.

The next step was a cooking class with the students. The children just love being able to cook and try new foods. We made an orange/ avocado/red pepper salad that most of the students liked. In the next few weeks the students will be receiving a lime or mandarin tree to grow at home. This is a really successful program. Within 3 years the families have trees over 6 feet tall covered in fruit.

We also visited Jacobo’s home in Chuk Muk. Jacobo is a lovely grade 9 student that lost his mother to lung problems last week. For some reason his family received land and no a home in the village.

His family has constructed a home out of cement blocks and corn stalks.
