We finally had classes at the Chuk Muk elementary school after one week of no classes. We took full advantage of the time and taught our Folic Acid class to the grade 6 class. We started by explaining why it is important to eat Folic Acid containing foods daily. We then showed all the locally available foods with Folic acid. Next we cooked a orange/ onion/red pepper/ cilantro/ avocado salad. This type of food is totally new to the students who survive on tortillas and salt. Twenty nine of the thirty students really liked it. These students will be receiving a citrus tree next week to plant in their yard at home.

Felipe, our new garden guy, had a wonderful class on growing plants from seeds with a grade 1 class.
