Today was ANOTHER eventful day in Chukumuk. Through our partnership with IMAP Marvin’s family received a vegetable garden.

This garden was constructed and paid for by a wonderful group from Fort Collins, Colorado. This group which consisted of volunteers from Geller Center for Spiritual Development, Tree,Water and People and the Unity Church is taking a permaculture course at IMAP. They then come to Chukumuk to design and implement an organic garden using all the knowledge they have acquired.

The first task was moving dozens and dozens of large rocks. Then they cleared the area. The next step was using some of the rocks to build raised beds.

Our next big news is that we are starting to partner with Consorcio. Consorcio is a group of 11 local women’s cooperatives. It has 3000 members. The head lady, Elena Chiquival, approached Aldea Maya to see if we could start courses on Nutrition and Chaya. This is so exciting!!!! We will start our first nutrition class on Wednesday with 30 women.
