I started the morning early with a tuk tuk ride to Chuk Muk. I wanted to visit Cristobal’s family and see if they were willing to let Cristobal study high school on Sundays in San Lucas Toliman ( a 20 minute ride away in a pick up). As he would only be studying on Sundays they said YES

We returned to Santiago Atitlan to pick up Vicki and Senor Gris. We then all headed to San Lucas Toliman.  Senor Gris is in the Nanaimo Rotary Club and was meeting with a group of South Vancouver Island Rotary friends. We had a nice coffee and then a small group headed to CEA ( a high school in San Lucas Toliman) with Cristobal. We met the director of the school and signed Cristobal up for a 2 year bacheloreto  in Sciences. The cost is high at this school and we only had Q2,100 to put towards the education costs…..part of our problem is the sinking Canadian dollar…we lost 20% of our funds!!!!. Well one of the Rotary guys, Ron Blank, decided to fill in the difference. Thank you Ron.
